JARED ESTES

Jared Estes is a singer songwriter living and working in Olympia, Washington (USA). He has been working on his project Insomnia Cafe, series of folk& indie rock songs CDs, which are like his own free republic of mind sounds. Listening to his CDs you can feel an enthusiastic and talented musician whose set of songs are a works in progress, always looking for new sounds and performances and, at the same time, diggin' all his influences, all the americana roots he is interested in revealing as timeless.
JARED ESTES INFO
His own songs are raw, intense, heartfelt recordings showing all his range and talent. You will hear simple (not that simple) folk songs, in which he shows all his wisdom as storyteller. “Dream Lover” is a terrific performance, so well played and sung, with a spooky wonderful delivery. This one, like the astonishing “A Psalm”, are two great songs offering the best of a singer carrying on a folk, alt folk song, to its limits and beyond.

He has some grunge/punk attitude I really love. And his fantastic psychedelic side as well, I think he can offer some experimental psychedelic surprises through his new projects mixing his knowledge of roots and these new sounds.

Yes, you might think of what Roscoe Holcomb would do nowadays meeting Jerry Garcia or Lee Ranaldo, and then you listen to the excellent “Dark Matter” and you can't get enough. His guitar sounds great, playing acoustic, and playing electric, and his voice goes from tenderness to loud epic tough mood makin' thru what I think is the most hard thing to do: to get the sounds of today experimenting since the long traditional & old music he knows so well.

“The Harley Song” takes you to the best of 70s rock music, Neil Young around, and “The Seeds of Change” is one of his most daring adventurous songs, when a singer performance makes you feel he is just in a room sharing with you his deepest thoughts and feelings. His woks are restless, his search of (out) folk and rock sounds is essential, and essence is this rare priceless elixir a great singer and songwriter can give us and we can’t live without it.
